Colorado School of Mines is a public research university devoted to engineering and applied science. It has the highest admissions standards of any public university in Colorado and among the highest of any public university in the U.S. A university of this caliber has high standards on the information and content it provides its students.

Colorado School of Mines had challenges getting up- to-date information out to students. Mines had multiple departments all managing their own websites, which resulted in an inconsistent user experience (UX), and a cumbersome process for students, who had to visit multiple websites to find basic information, such as events, at the school.

Based on a great and long-standing track record helping global organizations do more with data, websites and web applications, Mines turned to Savvior to create a solution to this problem. Savvior implemented our proven SavviCMS content system for Mines, which allowed each department to maintain a separate, but integrated, website. The SavviCMS calendar module was deployed to aggregate internal calendar feeds as well as external feeds to create a unified calendar view for students as well as maintain separate department calendars without data duplication.

The SavviCMS calendar management system allows content contributors to collect both external iCal and RSS feeds and internal SavviCMS calendar modules and aggregate them into a centralized calendar for students to view up to date information. The SavviCMS content management system allows department webmasters the ability to customize their own websites to with their own logos and imagery, while maintaining the approved university style sheet and branding guidelines to provide website visitors a consistent look and feel and experience.

The SavviCMS calendar module also allows students to subscribe the the calendar using iCal, so they can view events in popular programs such as Outlook and Google Calendar. In addition, using the SavviCMS iCal feed Mines was able to populate their mobile apps with up to date information from the SavviCMS database.
